Coordinator – Innogate to Europe devises and launches this project, coordinating a consortium of clusters from different countries, to promote collaboration between agents of the triple helix (academia, industry and public authorities) in the development of guides and support tools to promote creation of new public-private initiatives around artificial reefs.

ArtReefs promotes the use of custom-designed artificial reefs as versatile infrastructures to generate innovative tourism packages, complementary economic activities and beneficial services for nature, leading to job creation and greater cooperation between stakeholders.

Offering an integrated approach to promote sustainable coastal tourism and environmental management, thanks to the participation of different actors, it carried out awareness-raising activities and exchange of good practices (Blue Labs) and developed guides and tools that contribute to overcoming existing gaps in terms of opportunities, innovative models and good participatory governance.

Thanks to this project, specific action initiatives were launched in different places in the Mediterranean, some of which are currently in development.
